What NFPA Standards Cover
NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards are a widely referenced set of codes covering the design, installation, and maintenance of fire protection systems — sprinklers, alarms, extinguishers, suppression systems, and more.
Many projects, especially those following international specification practices, reference specific NFPA standards as part of their design basis.
Who Determines Which Standard Applies
Because different standards apply to different system types (and different editions may be referenced by different authorities), the specific standard your project must meet is normally set by your project's fire engineer, consultant, or the approving authority — not chosen independently by a supplier.
